It begins with a rubber dinosaur in a child's hands, and a band that fell silent too soon.

Years of searching followed, with a camera in hand. Through awards and doubt. Through the vast landscapes and the small worlds Kai Hornung found within them. Then, within two years, he lost both of his parents. His view of photography, of art, and of his own life shifted once again. And he understood that an image can sometimes say what words cannot.

Finding Small is not a photography textbook. And yet it changes the way you look. It begins as a book about photography and opens into a book about the creative life.

A personal journey full of stories, thoughts, and photographs that linger. The story of a person who let go of the big picture to find the small one — and discovered, along the way, that it was never just about the pictures.

An invitation to look slower, and closer.

Not only at the landscape.
