Why go with me?
Are you willing to have someone help you improve your photography? Looking for an experienced expert to give you honest and constructive feedback? Wanting to find inspiration on your own creative journey and be satisfied with your own work?
Choosing a mentor and workshop leader, and also a tour guide is a big decision, and I truly appreciate you taking the first step by considering me. Here's why I might be the perfect fit for your creative journey:
During my past tours and online mentorings I have had the pleasure of collaborating and meeting very different fine people. Some craved in-depth guidance and help seeing and capturing images they liked. Others preffered a more hands-off approach with occasional insight, telling me: “Kai, I am fine just roaming around and have you take a look here and there to give a thumbs up or some slight advice from time to time.”. Both and everything in between is perfectly fine with me, I've got you covered. Everyone is at a unique point on their personal creative journey. I'm here to meet you where you are. From capturing images you love to providing a gentle nudge of inspiration, your experience and satisfaction is my priority.
Most days of the week I work in human resources and have managers, employees and job starters as business partners. I also have a family life. I know first hand that life is bustling with activity, and taking time off for a weekend or week dedicated to capturing images, exploring creativity and soaking in inspiration for your passion is a precious gift. I'm committed to ensuring your investment, both in time and money, results in an unforgettable experience. Let's create memories and images you love together!
Philosophy: I believe in personalized guidance, respecting individuality and nurturing each person’s individual strengths. Everyone has different motifs as of why to go outside and take photos. I would like to know yours and help you uncover your unique strengths, addressing challenges and empowering you to find your own solutions. No commands — just collaborative exploration, where I offer possibilities and guide you with questions, so that you do find your own answers. I believe that this is a much better and personal fit for yourself and is way more satisfying than trying to follow up in doing exactly what the mentor does.
I am happy to see some of my clients getting a name of their own in the photography world. But I am just as happy having clients who tell me “your input was invaluable in me having fun with my photography and creating results that my family and me love.”. And the best compliment I ever got was: “This was one of the best weeks in my life!”.
Experience: I´ve started photographing casually in the early 2000s. My landscape photography journey began in 2016. I've been mentoring online since 2019 and leading photo workshops since 2021. Couple this with stage and studio experience as a singer in rock bands for 3 decades. But what I also bring into my workshops and mentoring is my 18-year career in professional training and coaching, particularly in the finance industry, providing a wealth of experience. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned photographer, my artistic background and expertise in human resources ensures tailored communication and practical advice for you that will help right away.
Results: Success isn't just about recognition; it's about finding joy in your craft. I celebrate clients not only for improving their photography or gaining recognition but even more so for discovering the sheer joy of creating photographs that resonate with themselves and their loved ones and which are really ‘yours’.
What else can you expect?
I want to make sure that things are taken care of. That is why I always work with co-guides and/or assistance. I want to have everything covered with personalized attention in small groups, so that everyone gets what he and she deserves. With tours limited to a small number, you won't feel lost in a crowd. I prefer a personal touch, getting to know each participant.
In the beginning I considered not bringing my own camera to photo workshops, but I soon got told that part of going with me is also about seeing how I work and how I approach scenes. So yes, I will some take photos here and there, but during these tours the focus is clearly on your images. So most of the time you will see me without camera in hand. Sharing the joy and excitement, supporting you and the group is what matters.
Accessible Physicality: My workshops are generally designed for everyone who is able to walk on uneven ground. Expect low to moderate physicality, allowing all participants to savor the experience. Yes, there can be demanding weather conditions when being outside, but it is always safety first. Let us get in touch for specific tours. Your photos should tell a story, not the effort behind them.
What not to expect?
I am not a ‘gearhead’. Gear is a tool for creation, not the focus. Of course, I will share my experiences with you, but I am unable to tackle all camera model specifications with you. So if you want to talk gear mostly, I will have to forward you to your trusted camera store to cover that.
If you're new to your camera, I'll gladly assist with main settings. But truth be told, our time together is much better spent on creating and capturing, not a deep dive into technicalities of how your camera functions. That would rather be your homework beforehand. But don’t worry, you needn’t be an expert. Starting from a basic understanding is just fine. You will improve fast.
Join for a great experience! See images you didn’t see before and be inspired. There will be fun and laughter.
I would love to welcome you on one of my upcoming workshops and events.
Just email me if I you have questions and I can assist you in any way.
