But while making the image and putting the more than a dozen exposures together I could not help but see and feel the humming spring sun, the movement of the grass and me as a boy in shorts running out in nature with my childhood friends. The artificial lights of the hotel troubled me until I had the idea to capture a lighttrail of a moving car to balance the artificial light of the hotels. As I usually do during the editing process I zoom in and out of an image. Usually this helps with identifying inconsistencies in an image. It also helps checking if the flow I want to have in an image is strong enough. Here zooming out into thumbnail size presented the entire direction and meaning of the image to me. I saw what I hadn't noticed before: the story and inner narrative in this intimate nature shot. All of a sudden I saw a classic painting of a crashing wave with heavenly light above. This revelation in the early stages of image processing gave me a clear vision and intent. Something that took the image way further than the original impulse and vision I had while photographing it.
